What We Know
- Chladni patterns — physical wave structure made visible on vibrating plates
- We know this connects to prime resonance but haven’t deeply explored the link
- Prime education works best sensory-first: touch (blocks), sight (Chladni patterns), hearing (intervals) — formalism last
- v3 experiments show prime-ratio frequencies create more structured spectral responses than composites
- RAS predicts different boundary shapes for primes vs composites — these should map to different Chladni figures
- The Tusk Series’ frequency peaks at 1/2, 1/3, 2/5, 3/7 should produce specific nodal patterns
What We Don’t Know
- Q-CY-01: Do prime-ratio frequencies produce qualitatively different Chladni patterns than composite-ratio frequencies?
- Q-CY-02: Does the v3 torsion ring’s spatial response (hemispheres, amplitude gradients) correspond to cymatics nodal patterns?
- Q-CY-03: Can cymatics provide a visual proof of Four-Factor Theory — seeing structural resonance vs coprimality?
- Q-CY-04: What plate geometries (circular, square, hexagonal) best reveal prime structure?
Bessel Rational Modes Connection (2026-06-04)
Bessel function zeros — which govern circular membrane (cymatics) modes — have consecutive ratios that converge to (4n+3)/(4n-1), a rational sequence with errors of 10⁻⁴ to 10⁻⁶. This means circular Chladni patterns are governed by near-rational frequency ratios. A “rational Bessel” theory replacing exact zeros with best rational approximations would lose almost nothing. However, Bessel zeros show no 6k±1 structure — the hexagonal patterns in cymatics come from the 2D geometry (hexagonal tiling = 2×3 scaffold), not from the radial Bessel modes.
Relationships
- [[v3-experimental-proof]] — nature: analogous-to — v3 torsion ring IS a cymatic system (wave patterns in a physical medium)
- [[ras]] — nature: bridges — RAS boundary shapes may directly predict Chladni nodal patterns
- [[four-factor-theory]] — nature: extends — cymatics could provide visual confirmation of the four factors
- [[prime-composite-duality]] — nature: analogous-to — Chladni patterns show structure (nodes) vs anti-structure (antinodes)
- [[water-lattice]] — nature: bridges — structured water experiments are cymatics in a fluid medium
- [[bessel-rational-modes]] — nature: bridges — Bessel zeros govern circular cymatics; their near-rational ratios connect to prime structure
- [[six-dimensional-scaffold]] — nature: supports — hexagonal Chladni patterns arise from 2×3 scaffold geometry (honeycomb tiling)
Bridging Potential
- If combined with [[ras]], could predict Chladni figures from factorisation alone — a visual “prime fingerprint”
- If combined with [[v3-experimental-proof]], the spatial survey data may already contain proto-cymatic information
- LOW-HANGING FRUIT: A Chladni plate experiment with prime vs composite frequencies would be visually compelling and publishable
Key Evidence
- v3 spatial survey showing hemispheres and gradients (cymatic-adjacent data)
- RAS boundary shape predictions for primes vs composites
- No dedicated cymatics experiments yet — this is an identified gap
